5 steps to EBD

Evidence-based dentistry is a 5-step systematic process. Each step uses simple tools to insure quality.

  1. Question
    Generate a clear question based on the clinical problem, and the hoped for outcome.
  2. Find
    Search for the best evidence. This may include: EviDentista.org, Biblioteca Virtual em Saude (BVS), Cochrane, or EviDents.
  3. Appraise
    Critically evaluate the evidence for validity, clinical outcome, clinical importance.
  4. Act
    Implement evidence in practice, if appropriate and relevant to clinical situation.
  5. Evaluate
    Determine whether the new methods improve health.
